Oscar Joseph Philibert, 91, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecile Charlotte (Landry) Philibert who died on March 1, 2015.Born on January 22, 1927 in North Attleboro, he was the son of the late Leon and Noella (Colette) Philibert.Oscar was raised and educated in North Attleboro, where he lived his entire life. He enlisted in the United States Navy, where, after training, he was assigned to the USS Oklahoma City. Oscar then worked for thirty years as a Produce Manager for Stop & Shop in North Attleboro before his retirement. Oscar enjoyed oil painting; cooking; fishing, especially on the Cape Cod Canal where he and Cecile would go camping with relatives; and traveling to Florida for vacations. Oscar was a skilled wood-worker, having crafted grandfather clocks, and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of the VFW in North Attleboro, and the American Legion Post in South Attleboro.Oscar was the loving father of Mark O. Philibert of Irving, TX, and his former wife, Lois (Morriseau) Philibert, of North Attleboro, MA; Calvin O. Philibert of Attleboro, MA; and Barbara L. Philibert and her companion, Glen Russell, of North Attleboro, MA. He was the adoring grandfather of Kristin A. Berlo, Stacey L. Kelley, and Crystal Hoffman, and the proud great-grandfather of Dahlia Berlo, Juno Berlo, Dane Berlo, Carter Kelley, Lucas Hoffman, and Charlotte Hoffman. Oscar was the brother of Rita Trombley of North Attleboro, and the brother-in-law of Donald A. Trainor of Attleboro. He was predeceased by his brothers: Fernand Philibert, Gerard Philibert, and Armand Philibert. He leaves several nieces and nephews.Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Oscar by gathering for a Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
