Dr. Orville G. Rodgers, 88, of Linden Ponds, Hingham; formerly of Sharon; went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret E. (Gee) Rodgers, and proud father of the late Marian E. Rodgers. Born in Barbados, West Indies on October 25, 1925, he was a son of the late Rupert and Louise (Greenridge) Rodgers. He left Barbados to serve at the pleasure of the Queen in the Royal Air Force at the age of 19. Dr. Rodgers was a trained podiatrist, whose passion was research. He used his gift for research at Boston University Medical Center for several decades. A man of strong faith, he worshipped at Good News Bible Chapel in Attleboro. He loved to share his voice in music and much of his time was spent for decades singing praises to the Lord with family, friends and church members. Dr. Rodgers enjoyed singing and celebrating life through song. Since moving to Linden Ponds, Dr. Rodgers shared his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ leading a monthly Hymn Sing for the residents. He also led Bible study for residents of the Alzheimer's group at the adjacent nursing facility. He treasured the many memories he had with his family, his wife's family and his numerous friends. He will be lovingly remembered as a gentle and caring man of God. Dr. Rodgers leaves a brother: Hermon Moseley of Barbados, several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family in Barbados, Great Britain and the United States. Visitation respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service Celebrating His Life and Love for the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 10:00AM at Good News Bible Chapel, West Street, Attleboro. A fellowship will follow services. Graveside services were held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at North Purchase Cemetery, 825 North Main Street, Attleboro. Please do not send flowers.
