Norma Julia (Penta) Toner, 82, of Danforth Street, Rehoboth, died on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of Edward Peter Toner, Sr. to whom she was married on May 13, 1950. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 24, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Yolanda (D'Amico) Penta. She was raised and educated in East Providence, Rhode Island where she was a 1948 graduate of East Providence High School. She was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family. Mrs. Toner resided in Rehoboth for the past 40 years having previously resided in Branford, Connecticut from 1963 - 1972 and her native community of East Providence, Rhode Island. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 302 in Rehoboth. She enjoyed bowling and gardening but her greatest satisfaction came from creating lifelong memories with her family. In addition to her husband of 62 years, she leaves four children: Charlotte A. Sullivan of Gastonia, North Carolina; Edward P. Toner, Jr. of Rehoboth; Teresa J. Toner of Rehoboth and David L. Toner of San Leandro, California; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several extended family members and friends. She was the sister of the late Robert J. Penta. Family and friends are cordially invited to join the family for a celebration of Mrs. Toner's life to be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 anytime between the hours of 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the American Legion Post 302, Route 118, Rehoboth.
