Norma Charlotte Doucette (Malinowski), 101, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Doucette, who preceded her in death in 1977.
Born in North Attleborough on July 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Irene (Simpson) Malinowski.
Norma had a varied career life - bookkeeper, beautician and real estate broker - before she retired. She was a lifelong member of the Central Congregation Church of Attleboro Falls, as well as the Angle Stone Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was an avid volunteer in several organizations throughout her life: Candy Striper, her church, and the North Attleboro High School Alumni Association.
She loved Cape Cod and the beach, and enjoyed exploring the world, through domestic and international travel, books, and poetry, and dined her way across Europe with her children several times. Before returning to Massachusetts, she lived for many years in California, where she worked as a full charge bookkeeper for mid-sized companies.
She was also known for being a loyal and wise friend, whose open heart, warm shoulder, and sound, often life-changing advice, were deeply appreciated by many.
Norma is survived by her loving children, Sandra Billodeau of Sulphur Springs, Texas; Jeffrey Doucette of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Gregory (Edmont de la) Doucette of southern France. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Justin Billodeau and wife, Allison, and Jessa Billodeau Newman, and her dear great-grandchildren: Greyson and Grant Billodeau; and Brady, Blain and Cole Newman. She was the devoted grandmother of Gregory's son, the late J.D. Edmont de la Doucette, and sister of the late Myrtle Weston, Betty Fletcher and Shirley Bayley.
A private funeral and burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, North Attleborough, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrier Project or to the JD Edmont Charitable Foundation (
