Nettie Louise (Snell) Simpson, 98, of Park Street, Attleboro, died on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro; she formerly resided at Christopher Heights, South Main Street, Attleboro and Woodchip Square, North Attleborough. She was the wife of the late Chester E. Simpson who died in 1980. Born in the family home in Plainville, Massachusetts on May 18, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Ralph I. and Ruth (Cudworth) Snell. She was raised and educated in Plainville where she was a 1933 graduate of the former Plainville High School. She resided in North Attleborough for more than 80 years prior to moving to Attleboro more than three years ago. Mrs. Simpson was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family and later was a clerk in the Town of North Attleborough Tax Assessor's Office for ten years prior to her retirement. In her youth, Mrs. Simpson attended the Plainville United Methodist Church with her family and following her marriage she attended the First Universalist Church in North Attleborough later returning to the Plainville United Methodist Church. An active community volunteer, she was a member of the North Attleborough Historical Society for ten years; donated 15 years of selfless volunteer time to the American Red Cross and was a member of the Kalmia Club in North Attleborough and the Live Y'ers at the Hockomock Area Y.M.C.A. She enjoyed swimming, gardening, knitting, reading, solving Sudoku puzzles, playing cribbage, card games and checkers. She leaves a daughter: Doris M. Fogelman of Hollis, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Mrs. Simpson was the mother of the late Donald C. Simpson. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 12:30P.M. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleborough with the Rev. David Hill, officiating. Burial will follow in Plainville Cemetery, Plainville. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
