Nellie Mae (Francis) Viera, 99, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel "Manny" Joseph Viera (2005) and the late Robert Charles Barber (1955).Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, on October 17, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Francis and the late Nora (Greeley) Francis. Nellie called North Attleboro home for 67 years prior to her recent move to Attleboro. For many years she worked as an assembler for Codex in Mansfield prior to her retirement. Nellie looked forward to trips with family and friends to Bliss Brother's Dairy to share a meal and her favorite ice cream. She was often seen in her neighborhood taking walks and tending to the flowers blooming in her yard. Nellie was known as independent and her life centered on family. She loved her sons and delighted in being a grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with every one of them.Left to mourn her loss are her sons Richard Allen Barber and his wife Suzanne (Guise), of Brewster, Massachusetts, and Gary Michael Viera and his wife Diane (Koukol) of Tamworth, New Hampshire; her four grandchildren Jennifer Barber (Steve Conover), Michele Burrell (Christopher), Derek Barber (Alyson), and Carl Viera (Kaitlyn), and five great grandchildren; her sister Audrey (Francis) Boucher of Middleborough, Massachusetts; and her daughter-in-law Maryellen Barber of Jacksonville, Florida. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her son Robert Charles Barber and her brothers Allen Francis and Herbert Francis.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Nellie's Visitation on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a Funeral Service to be held in the "Memorial Chapel" at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation.Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nellie's memory may be made to the North Attleboro Firefighters Kids Day Association.
