Nancy R. Gibbs, 84, a lifelong resident of Ash Street, North Attleboro, died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 22, 1929, she was the only daughter of the late Phanual B. and Ruth M. (Barnes) Gibbs. She was a lifelong resident of her family home and was a graduate of North Attleboro High School. Ms. Gibbs earned her bachelor's degree from the former Bryant and Stratton College, now Bryant University. She was employed as the treasurer for D. E. Makepeace Company in Attleboro for many years prior to her retirement. She was a lifelong, dedicated, devoted member of the First Baptist Church of North Attleboro. Ms. Gibbs had also enjoyed celebrating her faith at the First Congregational "Oldtown" Church in North Attleboro. Her favorite pastimes included nurturing African violets with her father and spending time with her cherished feline companions. She was proud of her native roots to North Attleboro and her community and enjoyed volunteering and supporting many local initiatives and efforts. Ms. Gibbs was a member of the Angle Stone Chapter - No. 118 of the Order of the Eastern Star, North Attleboro. She leaves generations of cousins and many dear friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of North Attleboro, Park Street, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will immediately follow visitation at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of North Attleboro, Park Street, North Attleboro. Burial in the family plot in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro will immediately follow. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join Ms. Gibbs family and friends for a time of continued fellowship and reflection at the First Baptist Church, Park Street, North Attleboro.
