Nancy C. (Sano) Araujo, 90, of Christopher Heights, 45 South Main Street, Attleboro, died unexpectedly at the Life Care Center of Attleboro on Thursday, February 5, 2015. She was the wife of the late John P. Araujo, Jr. to whom she was married in 1946 and died in 1999. Born in Elmira, New York on March 3, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Marie (Cassetta) Sano. She was raised and educated in Elmira where she was a 1943 graduate of Elmira Free Academy and a 1945 graduate of Elmira College. Mrs. Araujo was employed as the activities director at the former Old Colony Rest Home in Norton for ten years. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro. Mrs. Araujo was the past president of the Fadamie Club, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and was a member of the Gold Star Wives of America. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crafts. She leaves her daughter: Nancy L. (Araujo) Ruest and her husband, John E. Ruest, of Tolland, Connecticut; a granddaughter: Jennifer L. Ruest-Bast and her husband, Brian Bast, of Stowe, Vermont; a grandson: Jeffrey J. Ruest and his wife, Stephanie (Hawkins) Ruest of Tolland, Connecticut; three great grandchildren: Olivia, Brian and Connor Ruest, all of Tolland, Connecticut; a sister: Irene Marcoccia of Newburgh, Indiana: a sister-in-law: Delores Sano of Milport, New York and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Vincent and Francis Sano. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a ride to visitation simply call the funeral home directly at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 8:00 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 133 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. An invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the St. John Hospitality Center located adjacent to the church immediately following the Funeral Mass. The funeral cortege will leave St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 12:45 PM and proceed to the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne for a 2:15 PM committal service. Children's room is available during the visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Christopher Heights Resident Activities Fund, 45 South Main Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
