Mona Hunt Dittmeier

Mona Hunt Dittmeier, 93 ½, Farm Hill Road, North Attleboro, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 29, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. She was the wife of the late Arthur "Art" John Dittmeier to whom she was married on September 2, 1946 and entered into eternal rest on May 27, 2011. Born in New York City, New York on June 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Malachy J. and Mary F. (Dooris) Hunt, immigrants from Ireland, who had settled in New York. She graduated from St. Jean the Baptiste Academy for Girls on June 11, 1939 and was a graduate of the Knights of Columbus Finishing School in New York City. She then attended Fordham University. Mrs. Dittmeier was employed as an executive secretary for IBM for ten years having been the personal assistant of then corporate president, Thomas Watson. Mrs. Dittmeier resided in North Attleboro for 17 years having previously lived in Bedford, New Hampshire for 16 years and Needham for 16 years. She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Cumberland, Rhode Island. She was a woman of strong religious convictions and faith. Always proud of her Irish heritage, Mrs. Dittmeier will be lovingly remembered for her sense of fashion, elegance and grace. To have known her was to love her. She leaves six children: Thomas A. Dittmeier of Plainville; Dianne M. Brown of Casco, Maine; Veronica T. Dittmeier of Waltham; Terence "Ted" D. Dittmeier of Norwood; M. Victoria Dittmeier of Townsend and Captain Daniel T. Dittmeier, Retired U.S.A.F., of Tokyo, Japan; ten beautiful grandchildren; three cherished great grandchildren, extended family members and many dear friends. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Mullaly, James Hunt and Francis "Frank" Hunt Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 8:30 AM from the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, Rhode Island with the Rev. Raymond C. Theroux, Pastor and Rev. Mr. Paul Lambert, officiating. Committal prayers will be offered on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 12:45 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location in Bourne to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Dittmeier's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
