Miyo (Kamihira) Kambe, 95, of North Attleboro, Massachusetts passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at home. She was the wife of the late Charles S. Kambe, who died in 1975. Born in Yakima, Washington on August 24, 1918; She was a daughter of Jujiro and Hatsuno (Kumamoto) Kamihira. Mrs. Kambe graduated from Yakima High School and went on to the University of Washington where she graduated in 1940 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Miyo and her family were interred in a Japanese-American relocation camp in Idaho for several years during World War II. She then married and moved east to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1944, where she resided for the next 60 years. Mrs. Kambe moved to Cumberland, Rhode Island in 2005 and then to North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 2008. She volunteered for thirty years at the Associated Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She also worked at the former East Girard Savings Bank for many years. Mrs. Kambe was active in her Bridge Club at the Torresdale-Frankford Country Club. She also enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and playing golf. She once traveled around the world, as well as taking other trips to China and Japan. In her later years, Mrs. Kambe loved to read, spend time with her grandchildren, go for walks and take care of her dog, Mimi. Mrs. Kambe is survived by her children: Dr. Joseph C. Kambe and his wife, Dr. Candy Kambe; Peter T. Kambe; Dr. Arbetta M. Kambe and her husband, Dr. Mark R. Young; four grandchildren: Dana K. (Kambe) Carnelli and her husband Jeremiah; C.J. Kambe; Hana M. Young and Tori M. Young; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home , North Attleboro, Massachusetts. Burial will be private at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwynd, Pennsylvania.
