Mildred E. Gagne, 87, of Stoney Brook Lane, Attleboro, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 upon arrival at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the wife of the late Ernest A. Gagne who died on May 22, 1986. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on June 1, 1927, she was a daughter of the late LeRoy and Lillian E. (Padelford) Kiff. She was raised and educated in Attleboro where she remained a lifelong resident. Mrs. Gagne was a 1945 graduate of Attleboro High School. She served as the co-chairperson for her high school reunion committee. In earlier years, Mrs. Gagne was employed by Fontaine Dickens in Foxboro and Union Plate and Wire followed by Metals and Control, later Texas Instruments. She retired in 1982 after having been employed for ten years as an administrative assistant at the Corner Club House in Attleboro. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Attleboro. She treasured the time spent creating memories with her cherished family and she loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Her favorite pastimes included going to yard sales, working around her garden and home, particularly wallpapering and painting and playing "Michigan Rummy" with her friends. Her family will recall a woman of faith, courage and devotion. Mrs. Gagne leaves three sons: Brian P. Gagne and his companion, Nita Wiechel, of Port Lucie, Florida; Keith A. Gagne and his companion, Elaine Willey, of Franklin and Captain Neil S. Gagne, Attleboro Fire Department and his wife, Barbara A. (Baker) Gagne, of North Attleboro; her sister and best friend: Carole J. "C.J." Kiff of Attleboro; her deceased son's widow, Michelle McGlew and her husband, Barry McGlew, of Bedford, New Hampshire; her grandchildren: Davina M. Leiker, Dustin C. Gagne, Amber L. Gagne, Ian C. Gagne, Ryan S. Gagne and Rene C. Gagne; her great grandchildren: Hannah Leiker, Alexis L. Leiker, Truen C. Leiker; her cousins: Janet M. Arthur and her husband, John Arthur, of Milton and Merle Carlon and his wife, Patricia Carlon, of Attleboro; her beloved two-year old feline companion: "Rowdy" and several extended family members and dear friends. She was the mother of the late Dana Roy Gagne who died on October 1, 2000 and was the paternal grandmother of the late Alyssa Lee Gagne who died on March 10, 2005. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday, September 1 5, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a ride to visitation simply call the funeral home directly at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with Revs. Carlos and Nancy Money, officiating. Burial will follow at North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street, Attleboro. Following graveside services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Children's room is available during the visitation and the funeral service.
