Michael Stevens

January 11, 1965 — February 13, 2022

Michael Stevens, 57, of New Bedford, MA, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Born in New Bedford on January 11, 1965, he was a son of the late George Stevens and the late Lucienne "Jeanne" Stevens.
Raised and educated in New Bedford, he was a 1982 graduate of New Bedford High School.  Michael worked for many years in the restaurant and hospitality business until being the recipient of a heart transplant almost two years ago. He remained a devoted and dedicated caregiver for his family and friends, even during the times of his illness.
Michael's favorite pastimes were those spent with his family and friends, particularly his lifelong friend, Michelle. He will be remembered for being a caring soul and for his sense of humor and boisterous laughs. Spending time at the beach, especially in Provincetown, MA, provided him great happiness.  He was an avid bowler in earlier years and was a member of the Providence Gay Men's Chorus.
Michael leaves his brother, Roger P. Stevens and his companion, Heidi Thatcher, of Fairhaven, MA; his nephews: Thomas Stevens, Richard Oliveira, and Samuel Henriques; his niece, Victoria Henriques; his great-nephew, Greyson Alves; his extended family, including aunts and cousins; and many friends.
At Michael's request, all services and burial will be private.
