Michael John Santos, Sr.

Michael John Santos, 70, of Fisher Street, Attleboro, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 surrounded by his loving family at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island following a year long battle with kidney cancer. He was the husband of Susan (O'Grady) Santos to whom he had shared his life with since October 1976. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on April 16, 1943, he was a son of the late John and Martha (Giles) Santos. He was raised and educated in Attleboro and remained a lifelong resident of the community. As a young man, Mr. Santos proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. Prior to establishing his own business enterprises, Mr. Santos was employed by the former L. G. Balfour Company and Regis both in Attleboro. An industrious worker, he successfully owned and operated MJS Paving Company, Inc. and Dal-Trac Oil Company. His passions were his family, his businesses and his passion as an avid automobile collector. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children: Michael J. Santos, Jr. of Provincetown; David Santos and his wife, Karen, of Attleboro; Heidi Childs and her husband, Wayne Childs, of Attleboro and Tara Santos of Attleboro; his cherished grandchildren: Christopher, Caitlyn, Joshua and Hanna; a nephew and many nieces ; extended family members and friends. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 8:45 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 140 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro. A time of continued remembrance, fellowship and refreshments will be held at a location to be announced at the conclusion of cemetery services.
