Michael John Keefe, 63, of Mansfield, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Born on March 26, 1953 in Newton, MA, he was the son of the late John ("Jack") Keefe and the late Helen (Green) Keefe.He attended both Newton High School and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. He was a long-time resident of Mansfield, MA. Michael was a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and formerly employed for more than 30 years as a Director at Span, Inc., a Boston, MA based non-profit organization. He also enjoyed work as a Real Estate Investor and Auctioneer.A man of diverse interests, Michael liked collecting tools, frequenting yard sales, fishing, and farming. He was an avid reader, delighted in the simple pleasures of building and enjoying a bonfire, along with starting projects of all kinds. He truly loved his family and friends, as he did most every animal. Michael also had an exceptionally unique talent and ability to help those with addictions. Michael is survived by his beloved children: David M. Keefe of Mansfield, MA; John J. Keefe of Mansfield, MA; and Jessica K. (Keefe) Scalzo and her husband, Richard W. Scalzo, of Medway, MA. He was the brother of Cathy (Keefe) Pizzuto and her husband, Richard Pizzuto, of Norton, MA; Judy (Keefe) Freedman and her husband, John Freedman, of Preston, CT; and Susan (Keefe) Messina of Plainville, MA. Michael leaves his treasured granddaughter, Josephine E. Scalzo; as well as several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was the dear friend and companion for more than eighteen years of Barbara Bogdan of Westford, MA, and the former husband of Nita Marie (Terlizzi) Wilding.Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service immediately following the Memorial Visitation on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.Burial services will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Michael's name to either the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
