Michael William Hanlon

Michael William Hanlon, 76, of Glenfield Road, North Attleboro, died on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Souza) Hanlon to whom he was married on January 31, 1963. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on October 12, 1936, he was a son of the late William M. and Mary "Emerald" (Pelletier) Hanlon. He was raised and educated in Norwood and attended Norwood High School. Mr. Hanlon proudly served in the United States Army having achieved the rank of Private First Class prior to his honorable discharge on May 31, 1962. He was employed as a panagraph operator and die cutter for several companies including Kilmartin Industries in Attleboro from which he retired nine years ago and was formerly employed by L.G. Balfour Company in Attleboro and Herf Jones Company in Providence. He was a communicant of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. In earlier years, Mr. Hanlon was a member of the Attleboro Moose Club. An ardent sports enthusiast of all the local teams, Mr. Hanlon also enjoyed yard work, keeping up on current affairs on the local, state, national and international scene and was an ardent reader. In addition to his wife of 50 years, he leaves two daughters: Shari Lee Boyd and her husband, Charles F. Boyd, of Smithfield, Rhode Island and Brenda Lee Copparini and her husband, William R. Copparini, of Attleboro; two grandchildren: Amber M. Copparini of Attleboro and Bryana L. Copparini of Attleboro; a sister: June Whiting of Walpole; a brother: Robert Hanlon of Coconut Creek, Florida and several extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Sheila Peloquin. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the nationally historic "Colonel Obed Robinson Home", 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral with Veteran's Honors on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 7:45 AM from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the nationally historic "Colonel Obed Robinson Home", 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Mark Roman Catholic, Stanley Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Thomas Frechette, pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
