Michael Kevin Galvin

Michael Kevin Galvin "MKG", 67, of North Providence, Rhode Island, formerly of Cranston,Rhode Island, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, NorthProvidence, Rhode Island.
He was born September 22,1956, in Providence, Rhode Island, a son of the late John A.Galvin, Sr. and Anna D. (Ramika) Galvin. Michael was a devout Catholic by faith and belongedto Saint Gregory the Great parish located in Warwick, Rhode Island. Michael believed in themagic of his dreams and brought those into fruition through his utmost faith in God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nina (Ricciotti) Galvin;as well as two siblings, John Austin Galvin, Jr. and Dolores M. Carberry.Michael is survived by his many godchildren whom he loved with all of his heart as well ascousins and nephews.
Michael K. Galvin was an influencer, a man of many talents who loved to mentor and guideothers to grow and prosper spiritually, mentally, and in their career. He maintained a positiveforward-looking attitude even in adversity. He had a way of connecting with each person heencountered that made that person feel special and supported.
He and his beloved Nina had 26 beautiful loving years together. They had a true partnershipand worked wonderfully together in all aspects of life.
MKG was a man of great accomplishments, kindness, generosity, and a shining light to many.He lived an exemplary life of service and dedication to family, friends, his industry, students,and clients alike with a belief in facing life with a positive, faith-filled attitude.His entrepreneurial spirit showed through any project he undertook. He purchased his firstsalon building in 1984 created it's layout, designed the interior structure of the building,oversaw its' construction, then hired and trained staff. The salon helped to transform thebeauty industry in RI and by 1994 it was a full-service, high-end salon incorporating hair, skincare, nails, and massage and was unlike any other salon before it.
MKG studied under some of the greatest hairdressers of his time including the late VidalSassoon. In the late 1980's and 1990s he became a platform artist for such companies asHelene Curtis, Clairol, Gefden International, and Paul Mitchell. Michael placed first to third in allcompetitions he entered.
In 2003, Michael brought the Paul Mitchell School to Rhode Island. He implemented admissionsand education policies, spoke to groups of potential students, staff and parents whilefacilitating the layout, construction, and interior design of the building. He and his wife Ninacreated and became part owners of 15 other Paul Mitchell Schools across the US between2003 and 2010. Throughout that period he was the face of Paul Mitchell the Schools andrecruited other school owners and facilitated the start-up of approximately 100 Paul Mitchellthe Schools across the nation. He and Nina left the Paul Mitchell School in 2010 upon hisbattle with throat cancer.
The Aveda Institute Rhode Island was opened by Michael and Nina in 2012 and was a thrivingand growing business, incorporating barbering, cosmetology, skin care, and nail programs. Sixyears later they decided to branch out on their own creating the MKG Beauty and BusinessAcademy. The pandemic as well as Nina's devastating ALS illness caused the closing of theAcademy in 2021.
Michael also served as an evaluator for the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts &Sciences (NACCAS) for a decade.
Over the past four years Michael never truly recovered from the loss of his beloved wife andsoulmate Nina. He spent countless hours sharing their life experiences together with all whoknew him. He was truly heartbroken upon Nina's death and our only solace in his death is thathe is finally at peace and happy being with his Nina.
The loss of Michael will be felt by all who knew him due to the tremendous amount ofgenerosity he shared through the love, friendship, loyalty, trust, honesty, wealth, support,mentorship, knowledge, and appreciation he shared with everyone who touched his life. Agreat void that for some may never be filled.
Michael will always be remembered as courageous, motivational, and an inspiration to all of uswho truly knew and loved him.
