Michael "Mike" E. Young

Michael "Mike" E. Young, 65, of Norton, MA, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on Friday, April 30, 2021.
Born on May 1, 1955 in Attleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Walter J. Young and the late Barbara (Allen) Young.
A graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1974, he attended Greenfield Community College and Dean College. Mike was a skilled photographer, graphic designer, and had a unique perspective of life. He worked for "Reed and Barton", "Color Lab", and "My Backyard" newspaper over the years. He enjoyed volunteering his time and energies for numerous non-profit organizations, music organizations, Boy Scouts, and churches in the community. He was most proud of his role as a "stay at home" dad for his family when his children were growing up.
Mike was a longtime resident of Attleboro until moving to Norton five years ago. He was a warm, outgoing man with a passion for life who refused to allow polio to negatively affect his life, and as he would often quote from the movie Forrest Gump: "Life's like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get."
He was a member of the South Attleboro Lions Club, served as leadership for the Norton Housing  Authority, and volunteered his time and energy to local food pantries. He enjoyed cooking, camping at Papoose Pond in Maine, traveling, and engaging in conversation with friends. The true center of Mike's world was his family, and he cherished his role as "Peeka", a loving and much-loved grandfather.
Mike was the dear father of Jonathan M. Young of Cumberland, RI, and Sarah J. (Young) Robichaud and her husband, Shawn, of Attleboro, MA.  He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Anna, David, Joseph, and Thomas Young of Cumberland, RI; and Mason Robichaud of Attleboro, MA; and the brother of Robert Young of Pawtucket, RI and Kathleen Soucy.  He leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, his extended family, and his former wife, Emily Jane (Hodges) Young of Attleboro, MA.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including social distancing and the use of facemasks, family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., followed by a private Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m. or view the service virtually by livestream from the "Memorial Chapel" at that time.
