Mathew Paiano

Mathew Paiano, 82, of East Providence, Rhode Island, passed away with his devoted wife by his side on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Facility in Providence, RI. He was the husband of Stephanie Ann (Bettencourt) Paiano to whom he was married on October 9, 1999.
Born in Providence, RI on July 17, 1939, he was a son of the late Emilio Paiano and the late Giovannia (Pallotta) Paiano. He resided in East Providence, RI for the past 52 years.
He was the owner and operator of Mathew's Floors, a hardwood floor refinishing company, for 40 years.
His favorite pastimes included playing pool with the "guys" at the East Providence Senior Center and riding his Harley Davidson heritage softtail motorcycle to places like Sturgis, Blue Ridge Mountains. In previous years, he and his friend, Billy Oliveria, enjoyed playing tennis.
In addition to his wife of 22 years, among his survivors, he leaves a daughter: Cheryl Saccoccio of Johnston, Rhode Island; two stepsons: James Major in Utah and William Major of Woonsocket, RI; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was the brother-in-law of Marie Paiano of Johnston, RI and Jean Chetwood of Foster, RI.
