Mathew "Matt" Fioravanti Savastano, 86, of Attleboro, formerly of Pawtucket, RI, died on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Alice Theresa (Hyde) Savastano.Born on August 17, 1930 in Pawtucket, RI, he graduated from Pawtucket West High School, and received an Associate's Degree from Bryant College and a Bachelor's Degree from Roger Williams College. He served with Honor in the United States Navy, later serving in the United States Coast Guard. Matt was employed as an Electrician with Metals and Controls Corporation (Texas Instruments) in Attleboro, later becoming an Attleboro Police Officer, attaining the rank of Sergeant before retiring.Matt was a man of many interests and passions. He was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector for St. John's church in Attleboro. He loved dogs, and enjoyed spending time at his home, always tinkering in the yard, working in his flower garden, on cars, or as an electrician. He enjoyed visits to Florida and fishing. He was a member of a number of organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #20, The National Association of Uniformed Services, and the Fleet Reserve. Above all, Matt loved simply being in the company of his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children: Marianne Lorusso and her husband, Gerry Lorusso, of Naples, FL; Sueanne Crumbaker and her husband, Charles Crumbaker, of Lakeville, MA; Donald Savastano and his wife, Elizabeth Tierney, of Seekonk, MA; Anthony Savastano and his wife, Pamela Brown, of South Dartmouth, MA; Lynne Gallery of Devon, PA; and Paula Savastano and her husband, Kurt Schmel, of Wyncote, PA. He leaves eight grandchildren: Dominque Gallery; Aaron Savastano; Katrina Savastano; Ian, Ryan, Kailie, and Andrew Crumbaker; and Elysia Brown-Savastano. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Martel and her husband, Leo Martel, and leaves many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and neighbors. He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony and Mateo Savastano, and his sister, Ann Barnes.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
