Maryann M. Byrne, age 84, of Bristol, RI and formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on February 5, 2024, at The Dawn Hill Home for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Bristol, Rhode Island where she resided for the past four years.
Born in Boston, MA, on August 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Francis Simcock and Theresa Gately Simcock. She completed her high school education in Rhode Island, attended Bryant College in Providence, RI, Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, WV and Fairmont State College in Fairmont, WV.
She later moved to Wilmington, DE, seeking a position in the legal field. After 19 years of service in the field, she retired from the law firm of Tybout, Redfearn & Pellin in Wilmington, DE on May 31, 2007, and continued to pursue her interests in the Arts and Sciences at the University of Delaware's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Maryann's love of art was reflected in the numerous endeavors she pursued. She was a member of the Photographic Society of America and Photographic Art. She was a photographer for the Barbour Democrat, a family owned newspaper in Philippi, West Virginia where she formerly resided. She enjoyed painting and photography in her personal life and shared many of her art works with family and friends.
She was a communicant of Immanuel Highland Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Delaware and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol, Rhode Island.
Maryann is survived by her sisters: Saranne M. Dionne of Chepachet, RI; Eleanor T. Smith of Rumford, Rl; and Claire L. Licciardi of Bristol, Rl; She is also survived by her granddaughter, Paige Suzanne Byrne, and grandson: Chase Aaron, and Allison (Smith) Byrne and great grandson: Wren Byrne all of Philippi, WV and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her only child: a son, Jeffrey Allen Byrne, her brothers, Leonard Francis Simcock, Jr., and James Vincent Simcock,
Family and friends will be cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
Interment will be private in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI.
