Mary M. (Mello) White, 92, of Ferncrest Drive, East Providence, Rhode Island died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Earle I. White to whom she was married on August 5, 1972 and the late Jose "Joseph" Perreira who died in 1968. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 23, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Jose and Emelia (Borges) deMello. She moved from Providence to East Providence more than 50 years ago. Mrs. White was employed as an inflator for Davol Rubber Company in Providence for 21 years prior to her retirement in 1983. She and her late husband, Earle, enjoyed many trips they took as part of the Royal Travelers Club of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. In addition to enjoying traveling, she loved to cook. She leaves two children: Joanne P. Foster of the Riverside section of East Providence, Rhode Island and Richard A. Perry of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; two grandchildren: Doreen Braz of the Riverside section of East Providence, Rhode Island and Colleen Braz Adams of Daytona, Florida; two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Fernanda Miranda. She was the mother of the late Joseph S. Perry who died in 1972. Private visitation and funeral services were held in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Kelly Thibeault, Pastor of the First Congregational Church, Old Post Road, North Attleboro, officiating.. Burial followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a random act of kindness be bestowed upon someone in need.
