Mary Elizabeth (Silvia) O'Brien, 87, of Maple Terrace, Attleboro; formerly of Dorchester; died on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late John J. O'Brien who died on January 23, 1976. Born in Newport, Rhode Island on March 14, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Silvia, Sr. and Mary (Estrella) Silvia. Mrs. O'Brien was a graduate of the Carney Hospital School of Nursing and was then employed by the hospital for 25 years prior to her retirement in the 1960s. She resided in the City of Attleboro since 1978 having moved to the community from Dorchester. Mrs. O'Brien was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, formerly Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, in Attleboro. She enjoyed solving word search puzzles, cooking for her beloved daughter, watching television shows, especially Dancing with the Stars and America's Got Talent and loved the peace and tranquility reflected in the face of an angel. She leaves her daughter: Diane Marie Pacheco and her husband, Edward M. Pacheco, of Attleboro; a niece and many extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Manuel Silvia, Jr. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service immediately following visitation on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 8:15 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Riley J. Williams, Parochial Vicar of St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Linden Street, Attleboro, officiating. Burial will be private in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
