Mary E. (Lacey) Nolan, 94, of Flora Road, Attleboro, died on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Jeanne Jugan Residence in Pawtucket, Rhode Island where she had made her home for the past five months. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles J. Nolan who died in August 1990. Born in Wallingford, Connecticut on March 4, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Mulroney) Lacey. She was raised and educated in her native Connecticut and resided there until moving to Massachusetts in 1954 and settling in Attleboro. Prior to starting her family, Mrs. Nolan was employed as a bookkeeper. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted homemaker to her husband, children and in later years to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Marks Roman Catholic Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls and was a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro. Among her favorite pastimes were knitting, gardening and spending time at the Attleboro Y.M.C.A. and the Attleboro Council on Aging. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She leaves three children: Mary E. Wallace of Attleboro; Charles J. Nolan and his wife Jeanne of Kingston, Rhode Island and Barbara A. Schmitt and her husband John of South Attleboro; seven grandchildren: Karyn Duckworth of Wakefield, Rhode Island; Kellie Fortes of Cranston, Rhode Island; Kristin Wallace of Colorado; Sarah Kuceris of New Hampshire; Eric Bergevine of North Attleboro; Kyle Schmitt of South Attleboro and Christine Schmitt of South Attleboro; six great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late John E. Lacey and Florence Zottoli. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 9:00 10:00 AM at the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the St. Jeanne Jugan Residence. Burial will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Massachusetts.
