Mary Rita Mellett, loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend died peacefully on August 14, 2026 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro following a period of declining health. Rita was born in Rosmuc, County Galway, Ireland on May 25, 1944. Rita lived in Dorchester and Milton before returning to Galway in 2019.

Rita was the devoted daughter of the late Michael and Ann (Walsh) Mellett. Rita was the dear sister of Michael Mellett and his wife, Karen of Attleboro, MA and the late Thomas Mellett and his wife, Carol of Quincy, MA. Rita will also be remembered fondly by Tara, Maureen, Sean, and Danielle as their loving and generous aunt whose travel experiences enriched their childhoods. She is also survived by many cousins and her dear friend, Ruth Kaplan.

Mary Rita was proud of her fulfilling career as both an executive assistant and office manager at distinguished Boston law firms spanning five decades. Her Irish heritage served as an inspiration throughout her life. Rita loved gardening and her homes in both Milton and Connemara brought beauty and pleasure to all who visited.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 10:45 AM at Milton Cemetery, 211 Centre Street, Milton, MA where Rita will be laid to rest with her beloved parents.
