Mary Theresa Lally

Mary Theresa (O'Leary) Lally, 90, of Carrier Avenue, Attleboro, peacefully passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.  She was the beloved wife of the late James Anthony Lally, Jr., to whom she was married on February 23, 1957, and who died on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2013.Born In Cork, Ireland on February 24, 1925, she was the daughter of Patrick O'Leary and Anne (Prior) O'Leary.   Mrs. Lally was schooled in Ireland, and received her nursing training and education at St. Albans in England. She was worked in England as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at St. Albans City Hospital and at Cane Hill Hospital, and after moving to the United States in 1956, she worked for many years as a Private Duty Nurse. A woman of faith, Mrs. Lally was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro and a member of the Women's Guild of St. Margaret Church. Mrs. Lally genuinely cherished the time spent with her family, and lived a life filled with many interests.  She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, cooking and baking - especially Irish Soda Bread - reading, and trips back to Ireland.  As a younger woman, she enjoyed playing tennis and field hockey, and was an ardent Red Sox fan. She leaves seven beloved children: Anne P. (Lally) St. Pierre and her husband, Gerald L. St. Pierre of Berkley, MA; Loretta E. (Lally) Lazarus and her husband, Richard Lazarus, of Marietta, GA; James S. Lally of Brockton, MA; Mary T. (Lally) Nedder and her husband, David J. Nedder, of Attleboro, MA; Michael G. Lally and his wife, Elizabeth (Harrington) Lally of Warren, ME; Brian P. Lally and his wife, Isnia Lally, of Attleboro, MA; and David F. Lally of Attleboro, MA.   In addition, she leaves fifteen treasured grandchildren and four special great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy (O'Leary) Zinkhart of Ireland; many nieces and nephews in England, and her feline companion, "Scooter".   She was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a local ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. from the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Maronite Church, 1493 Cranston St., Cranston, RI with Rev. Edward T. Nedder, officiating. Burial will follow in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro, at which time Mrs. Lally will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband. Children's room is available during visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized.
