Mary A. Harris

November 8, 1937 — October 6, 2012

Mary A. Harris, of North Attleboro, Ma, died following a brief illness at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, MA, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Russell E. Harris. She was the former wife of the late Leslie C. Burns, Sr. Born in Sandwich, Ma, she was one of the daughters of the late William Stanley and Germaine (Boudreau) Stanley of Middleboro, Ma. Mary graduated from Middleboro High School in 1955. She was a graduate of Pondville Hospital School of Nursing in Norfolk, Ma. Mary was employed as a nurse at both Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro and at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro until retiring in 2000. Mary leaves 4 children: Judith A. Burns and her partner, Pam Neville of Jamestown, RI; Leslie C. Burns, Jr. and his wife Ann of North Attleboro, MA; Karen E. Stanford and her husband John of Jamestown, RI; and last but in no means least, Gail E. Seegraber and her husband Paul of Quincy, MA. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Grossman and William Stanley, Jr. Mary was an avid reader of mystery and adventure. She was a regular fixture at the North Attleboro library for many years and had many laughs with the library staff. She was a member of Joe's 320 Social Club where she enjoyed bowling and golfing with so many of her good friends. During Mary's retirement, she enjoyed many summer vacations in Bristol and Jamestown RI, Ogunquit ME, as well as the Berkshires. Mary had an adventurous side to her- whether it was sailing The Newport to Bermuda race, climbing Mt. Everest, qualifying for the LPGA tour or sport fishing. The previous sentence perhaps was not completely factual-but Mary loved life, Russ, her family and friends, and never wanted a boring obituary when she passed!!!
