Mary A. (Empey) Goodine

June 24, 1932 — September 21, 2022

Mary A. (Empey) Goodine, 90, of Norton, MA, passed away peacefully at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro, MA on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.  She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick B. Goodine to whom she was married on November 29, 1951, and who entered eternal rest on October 9, 2014.
Born in Boston, MA on June 24, 1932, she was the daughter of her loving mother and best friend - the late Mary Margaret (McEleney) Empey who passed when Mary was only nineteen-years old.
Raised and educated in Boston, Mrs. Goodine was a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School in the Jamaica Plain section of the city.
Employed as an accounting clerk, Mrs. Goodine worked for the former Shawmut Bank in Boston for many years and later for the former Foxboro National Bank for ten years prior to her retirement.
She moved to Norton from Boston in 1977.
While residing in Boston, she was an active member of St. Kevin's Parish in Dorchester.
She always immersed herself in political science and had such a lifelong love for animals, she was often referred to as "Dr. Doolittle" by her late husband.
Proud of her Irish heritage, she loved time spent at Castle Island in South Boston and painting and drawing. However, her truest love was the time spent creating lifelong memories with her family.
She leaves her children: Frederick Goodine and his wife, Lori Goodine, of Winchester, Virgina; Deborah L. Cochrane and her companion, Eugene Bousquet, of North Attleboro, MA; Marianne Tessicini, wife of the late Joseph F. Tessicini, of North Attleboro, MA; John R. Goodine and his wife, Linda Bartlett, of Jefferson, Virginia; and Regina M. Goodine and her spouse, Virginia Patrick, of Tucson, Arizona; her grandchildren: Kristin, Joshua, Alicia, Sarah, Benjamin, Joseph and Jordan; her great grandchildren: Amber, Liam, Nicholas, Thomas, Niamh, Sean, Jasmine, Mason and Logan.
Mary also leaves her dear cousins: members of the Buck and McElmoyle families; her former son-in-law: Steven Cochrane and her dear friend, Irene Danahey.
The family gratefully recognizes Mary's caregivers, Alice Zarillo and her daughter, Kaitlin Zarillo,  for their care and dedication.
She was the dear cousin of the late John Joseph McEleney, S.J., an American prelate of the Catholic Church. He was the first Bishop and first Archbishop of Kingston, serving between 1956 until 1970. He previously served as President of Fairfield University from 1942 - 1944 and Vicar Apostolic of Jamaica from 1950 - 1956.
