Mary Katherine (OBrien) Barrett, 85, of Walnut Street, Plainville, died on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro where she had been a resident since March 2010. Born in New York, New York on September 21, 1925, she was a daughter of the late James Patrick and Marguerite (Moore) OBrien. She was raised and educated in the Bronx borough of New York and later attended a professional accounting school. Mrs. Barrett resided in Plainville and Medfield prior to moving to North Attleboro last year. She was employed many years ago as a bookkeeper for the Town of North Attleboro having worked in the Treasurers Office for many years prior to her retirement. Many years ago, Mrs. Barrett worked for the Chemical Bank in Manhattan in the International Banking Division. Her family lovingly recalls her being dedicated and devoted to her family and being a loving Mom. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro and St. John Vianney in Cumberland, Rhode Island. In Medfield, Mrs. Barrett was a communicant of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church. At St. Edwards, she was a member of the Womens Club and Sodality. Her life was devoted to her family and she will be lovingly remembered for the cherished bond between mother and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters: Patricia E. Stewart and her husband, James W. Stewart, of Plainville and Susan E. Bussow of Nashua, New Hampshire; six grandchildren: James Sabbag of Attleboro; Jenette Sabbag of the Brighton section of Boston; Shawn Stewart of North Attleboro; David Bussow of Nashua, New Hampshire; James R. Stewart of Medway and Christine Stewart-Martello of Blackstone and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Barrett was the mother of the late Kathryn Barrett who died in July 1959 and was the maternal grandmother of the late Timothy J. Bussow who died on September 14, 1995. She was predeceased by all of her siblings. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10:15 AM in the Chapel of Madonna Manor, 85 North Washington Street, North Attleboro. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Barretts name may be made to the Resident Activities Fund of Madonna Manor, 85 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
