Martha Eleanor (Powers) Higgins, 95, of Plainville, MA, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Joseph Higgins.Born on April 11, 1921 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late William Powers and the late Caroline (Powers) Powers.A resident of Norton for the past two years, she had previously lived in Plainville, MA for more than forty years where she had been a member of St. Martha's Church.A loving Homemaker to her family, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, loved the color red, and delighted in spending time with her cherished family. Martha was the beloved mother of the late William Vincent Higgins and his late wife, Ruth (Baker) Higgins; the late Edward J. Higgins and his wife, Yvonne (Johnson) Higgins of Attleboro, MA; Francis Higgins and his wife, Ann (McDonough) Higgins of Plainville, MA; the late Kathleen R. (Higgins) Robertson and her late husband, John J. Robertson; her twin sisters: Maureen Ann (Higgins) McElhanon and her husband, Billy McElhanon, of Plainville, MA; and Margaret V. (Higgins) Chircop and her husband, Charles Chircop, of North Attleboro, MA; and Theresa M. (Higgins) Pedro and her husband, Thomas G. Pedro, of Plainville, MA. She was the adoring grandmother of eighteen grandchildren, including Kristen Marie Woodward and her husband, Matthew Allen Woodward; Kerri L. Desilets and her husband, Richard Desilets, II; and Michael Thomas Pedro and his wife, Kimberly Pedro. She leaves forty-two great-grandchildren, including Kaylee Woodward, Mackenzie Woodward, Kyle Woodward, Richard Desilets, III, Ethan Thomas Desilets, and Thomas J. Pedro; seven great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be privately held.
