Marshall Carey Gilbert IV, 80, of North Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island.  He was the beloved husband of Gayle S. (Gravin) Gilbert whom he married on July 3, 1962.
Born in New London, CT on July 26, 1940, he was a son of the late Marshall Carey Gilbert III and the late Loree (Duff) Gilbert.  Raised and educated in Southern Rhode Island, he was a 1959 graduate of South Kingstown High School and later attended the University of Rhode Island.
Mr. Gilbert proudly served his country with the United States Navy.
He was the owner and publisher for ten years of the former Southeast Massachusetts Business Journal.
Previously, Mr. Gilbert was a marine manufacturers' representative for numerous boat manufacturers for many years.
He had been a North Attleboro, MA resident since 1972 having previously resided in Providence, Rhode Island.
Mr. Gilbert served on the former North Attleboro Police Department Building Committee and was a member of Veterans Advisory Commission in North Attleboro, MA. He also served on the board of directors of the North Attleboro Council on Aging and was a former trustee of the Richards Memorial Library in North Attleboro, MA.
Mr. Gilbert was a long-time member of the Mansfield Fish and Game club, a senior golf league player at Chemawa Golf Course and an avid fisherman. In earlier years, he enjoyed catamaran sailing and racing.
For more than four decades, he was a Friend of Bill W.
Although a man of many interests and much community involvement, he was happiest when in the company of his family and friends creating lifelong memories to cherish.
In addition to his wife of more than 58 years, Mr. Gilbert leaves two daughters: Kelly Gilbert Raskauskas and her husband, Dr. Thomas Raskauskas, of Bridgeport, CT and Heather Loree Larkin and her husband, James Larkin, of East Greenwich, RI; four grandchildren: Katherine Raskauskas of Bridgeport, CT; Kristen Raskauskas and her husband, Michael Briganti, of Highland Park, New Jersey; and Kaely Loree Larkin and Jack Marshall Larkin both of East Greenwich, RI.  He was the brother of the late Nancy Alfaro, who had resided in Vermont.
With strict adherence to applicable Covid-19 health precautions, including social distancing and the use of facemasks, family and friends are cordially invited to honor Mr. Gilbert by attending Visitation in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.  Due to space limitations dictated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, extended family and friends will be invited to pay their respects and exit the chapel area.
A private committal service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Interment will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery Columbarium.
