Mark Alan Powers, 62, of Attleboro, MA. passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at his home.
Born on March 19, 1958 in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Robert E. Powers and the late Myrtle (Higson) Powers.
A lifelong resident of Attleboro where he was raised and educated, Mark was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1978.  Following graduation, he worked as a Security Guard for the past twenty-seven years, including at Securitas Security Services USA and for Gray's Security Service, Inc. before retiring in 2012.
Mark was a faithful and active member of the Plainville Baptist Church in Plainville, MA, and served the Lord and his church in the parking lot, front entry steps, and in the entryway foyer, at all times providing physical security by means of his watchful presence. He was best known there for his jovial demeanor and ready laugh.  He will be sorely missed by the congregation.  Mark was also an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
He was the beloved brother of Marilyn A. Powers of Attleboro, MA; Roberta A. Ferguson and her husband, Clinton B. Ferguson Jr., of Attleboro, MA; and Pamela A. Loper and her husband, Jerry Loper, of Melbourne, FL. He was the uncle of Stephen P. Ouellette of Mansfield, MA; Melanie A. Bonin of Warwick, RI; and Emily B. Ferguson of Attleboro, MA. Mark was the cherished great-uncle of Jeremy A. Bonin Kwasny and Jacob N. Kwasny, both of Warwick, RI.  He leaves his extended family and many good friends.
Visitation has respectfully been omitted.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held in the Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro, after the current healthcare crisis has passed.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mark to either: the Plainville Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 62 South Street, Plainville, MA 02762 or to the Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative Food Pantry, 95 Pine Street #10, Attleboro, MA 02703.
