Mark "Popeye" James Rantanen

Mark "Popeye" James Rantanen, 55, of Greenfield, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA.Born on September 10, 1963 in Plymouth, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Richard B. Rantanen and the late Isabella T. (Henry) Rantanen.He was a kind, hardworking, and sincere man. Mark had a love of the outdoors, and worked for many years as an Apple Picker for various area orchards. He enjoyed animals of most every kind, seventy's rock music, and valued the company of his family and good friends. He will be remembered always, and forever dearly missed, by his brothers and sister of Attleboro, one of whom gave him his nickname.He was the dear brother of Norman N. Rantanen of Florence, MA, Linda Rantanen of Greenfield, MA, and Joyce I. Sturtevant of Greenfield, MA, who passed away on November 27, 2017. Mark was predeceased by his brothers: the late Richard B. Rantanen and the late Eric C. Rantanen.
