Marjorie "Marge" Isabel (Brown) Welton, 97, of Wrentham, MA, formerly of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley C. Welton who died on July 17, 2000.
Born on May 16, 1921 in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Leda (Cartier) Brown.
Marge was a graduate of Attleboro High School and worked for more than twenty-five years as a Payroll Manager for LeachGarner in Attleboro, before retiring in 1987.
An elegant woman who always looked her best, Marge was a woman of great faith. She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Attleboro for more than thirty years, and was actively involved in her church and in her community. Marge was a longtime member and a Past Matron of Angle Stone Chapter 118 Order of the Eastern Star, the Past Matrons Friendly, the Red Hat Society of Attleboro, the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, the PEAL Club of Attleboro, and the North Attleboro Advisory Board. She was the recipient of The Grand Cross of Color, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and volunteered her time and efforts at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, at Pilgrim Pines Christian Camp in New Hampshire, and with her late husband. Marge loved to shop, especially at the mall; travel, spending summers each year in Bermuda; and listen to Big Band music. She held a special place in her heart for animals, especially cats and dogs. More than anything, Marge loved being with her beloved family.
Marge was the loving mother of the late Cheryl Lee (Welton) Galarneau who died on May 28, 2008, and her husband, Oliver J. Galarneau Jr., of Attleboro, MA. She was the adoring grandmother of Todd O. Galarneau and his wife, Lisa A. (Lavoie) Galarneau, of Saugus, MA; Kristen L. Silverman and her husband, Craig M. Silverman, of Milford, MA; and Andrea A. McCaffrey and her husband, Paul W. McCaffrey, of Rehoboth, MA. She was the proud great-grandmother of Brittany E. Silverman of Milford, MA. Marge was the sister of the late Doris Remes and the late Kenneth Brown; and the sister-in-law of Virginia Welton of Cumberland, RI. She leaves her nephews: Paul Remes Jr., of Bridgewater, MA; and Scott Welton of Cumberland, RI; and her nieces, Lauri Remes Byer of Scituate, MA; and Sara Welton of RI.
Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Marge by gathering for a Visitation on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will follow on Friday, December 21, 2018 in Newell Burying Ground, Attleboro, MA, at which time she will be laid to rest alongside her dear late husband, Stanley
