Marion E. (Dunbar) Baker, 96, of Attleboro, MA passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at her daughter's home in Plainville, MA, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late William A. Baker.
Born on May 18, 1926, in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. Dunbar Sr. and Mary (Dodd) Dunbar.
Marion was raised in Attleboro and was a graduate of Attleboro High School. She spent most of her working career as a billing clerk for the L.G. Balfour Company and retired in 1989. She wanted to stay busy and was a former receptionist at the Attleboro Arts Museum and was an member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Marion was an active member of the The Attleboro Order of the Eastern Star, the Balfour Gold Dusters, the Attleboro VFW and was a member of the Centenary Church Choir. In her younger years she enjoyed golfing, bowling and dancing, especially when she got to dance the waltz with her husband Bill.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on puzzles, and word searches. Family vacations were important to her and she and her husband would bring their four girls on trips. Oftentimes they would vacation in NH, PA and Newport, RI. Marion was known as a true lover of animals and had various cats and dogs over the years. She especially had a soft spot for her grand dog, Sydney, who spent a lot of time by her side.
She leaves her daughters: Marilyn L. Cavanaugh, of Pawtucket, RI; Caroline A. StGermain, of Pawtucket, RI, Cheryl A. Baker, of Plainville, MA and Leslie Baker, of Plainville, MA and Daughter In-Law Jan Jankowski of Plainville, MA. Her grandchildren: Stacy A. Colella and her husband Matthew Colella; Chad M. Cavanaugh and the late Cynthia Marie Cavanaugh; her great grandchildren: Nicholas A. Colella and Daniel W. Colella; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. Predeceased by 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Marion's visitation on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at Centenary United Methodist Church, 15 Sanford Street, Attleboro, Massachusetts 02703
Burial will follow at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
