Mario Lach

September 14, 1927 — October 7, 2013

Mario John Lach, 86, of Wade Road, Plainville, died on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a long illness. He was the husband of Marjorie A. (Ferdinand) Lach to whom he was married on October 21, 1950. He was born in Trieste, Italy on September 14, 1927 a son to the late Frank and Giovanna Lach. He immigrated to the United States at the age of nine and settled in Norwood where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Norwood High School. Mr. Lach proudly served his nation with the United States Army. He was employed as a machinist for Bird & Son in Walpole which was later acquired by several companies and he concluded his career with Smurf Stone Corporation in Mansfield prior to his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Martha Parish, Plainville. He treasured the time spent walking and reading. Mr. Lach was a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. In addition to his cherished wife, he leaves a daughter: Donna Soule of Danielson, Connecticut. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. For those in need of a local ride to visitation simply call the funeral home at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Children's room available during visitation. A private committal service with military honors will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Lach's name may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Comonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit the American Kidney Foundation.
