Marie Louise Vandyck Wheeler

July 8, 1927 — October 1, 2022

Marie Louise (VanDyck) Wheeler, 95, of Billerica, MA, formerly of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, MA, on Saturday, October 1, 2022.  She was the wife of the late Leon A. Wheeler whom she met in Belgium during World War II. They married on June 13, 1945.  Mr. Wheeler died on May 26, 2005.
Born in Belgium, on July 8, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Alexander VanDyck and the late Adele (Koelman) VanDyck.  She was raised and educated in Belgium and upon immigrating to the United States, she resided in Seekonk, MA, from 1946 until 1957, when she moved to North Attleboro.  She remained a resident of North Attleboro until moving to Billerica in August 2017 to be close to her grandson, Dale.
Mrs. Wheeler was employed as a sewer in the textile industry, having worked for Health-tex in Central Falls, Rhode Island for 37 years prior to her retirement.
She was a former member of the "Live Y'ers" and the "Merry Justers" square dancing club for many years.  She enjoyed walking, especially at the Emerald Square Mall, and playing cards and games.  While in Billerica, Mrs. Wheeler enjoyed spending time with her companion, Bill King, of Bedford, MA.  In earlier years, Mrs. Wheeler treasured the times spent camping in New Hampshire, Maine, and throughout the United States and Canada.
She leaves a daughter: Helen V. Hammond and her husband, David P. Hammond, of Bluffton, South Carolina; six grandchildren, including her recent caregiver, Dale C. Wiggins, many great grandchildren and extended family members and friends.  She was the sister of Charles VanDyck.
Mrs. Wheeler was the mother of the late William A. Wheeler who died on April 17, 2005.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
All other services will be conducted privately.
