Marie Ann Mottau

Marie Ann (Marotto) Mottau, 82, of South Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward L. Mottau, who died on December 6, 2012.Born on April 13, 1936 in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late John F. Marotto, Sr., and the late Rose (Caito) Marotto.A graduate of St. Xavier Academy, Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who was employed full time at Buxton Box and Univis Frame for many years.  She also enjoyed working as an Avon Lady before retiring in 1998.Marie was a resident of South Attleboro for the past sixty years, where she was a longtime member of St. Theresa's Church.A woman of great faith, she was a member of the Christian Mothers Association and was actively involved in the PTA when her children were young. She loved to cook, listen to music, tend to her flower and vegetable gardens, spend time at the ocean, and take vacations and trips with her late husband. Marie was an ardent Patriots and Red Sox fan. More than anything, Marie loved being with her family.She was the loving and much loved mother of Stephen E. Mottau and his companion, Gail A. Russell, of West Warwick, RI; and Kenneth J. Mottau and his wife, Maureen A. Mottau, of Woonsocket, RI. Marie was the proud grandmother of Adrienne E. Dyer and her husband, Brian Dyer; Erica J. Mottau and her partner, Ryan Sousa; Kathryn R. Mottau; and Michael K. Mottau and his wife, Meghan Mottau. She was the adoring great-grandmother of Connor G. Sousa, Henry D. Sousa, and Mackenzie E. Mottau, and was looking forward to the birth of a new great-grandchild. She was the sister of Frank Marotto of Providence, RI; John F. Marotto, Jr., of Warwick, RI; and the late Gaetano Marotto. Marie leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Marie by gathering for a Visitation on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, South Attleboro, MA.
