Marie Virginia (Achin) Christensen, 88, of Attleboro, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Nathaniel W. Christensen for forty-nine years.Born on November 9, 1927 in North Attleboro, MA, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Isabelle (Precourt) Achin of North Attleboro.Marie was a resident of North Attleboro and Attleboro, and a graduate of the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH, Class of 1944.She worked at Achin's Garage in North Attleboro for approximately ten years. Marie then worked the remainder of her years at Teknis Instruments in Plainville, MA as the Treasurer. She was a devoted Catholic who lived a life of gratitude and blessings. Marie loved animals, fostered many small dogs over the years, and always had several of her own pets. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible in her garden, tending to all her flowers and on her deck enjoying the sunshine. Marie enjoyed attending operas and plays.Marie is survived by five children: Donna M. Dumaine of Taunton, MA, and her late husband, Thomas J. Dumaine; David W. Christensen of Burriville, RI and his wife, Margaret Christensen; Anna B. Woods of Bangor, ME and her husband, Robert P. Woods; Darlene A. Christensen of Attleboro, MA; and Diane L. Jones of Smithfield, RI. She was the sister of the late Robert Achin, the late Donald Achin of North Attleboro, MA; Irene Lamothe of North Attleboro, MA; Jeanne Paquin of North Attleboro, MA; Lucille Desilets of North Attleboro, MA; and the late Albert Achin; as well as the half-sister of Richard Achin of Plainville, MA; Raymond Achin of Duxbury, MA; and Gerald Achin. She leaves five grandchildren: Thomas J. Dumaine Jr. of West Warwick, RI; Neil W. Dumaine of Attleboro, MA and his wife, Sonya Dumaine; Nathan S. Dumaine of Jackson, ME and his fiancée, Shawna Sandberg; Danielle C. Wade of Mansfield, MA and her husband, Scott Wade; Marissa N. Potter of Bucksport, ME and her fiancée, Travis T. Wallace; one great-grandchild, Kayla Dumaine; and one step great-grandchild, Savanah Megna.Visitation has respectfully been omitted.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro, MA.Burial services will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Attleboro.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie's name to the "Friends of Attleboro" Animal Shelter, 27 Pond Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
