Marie Ann (Bernard) Schlak, 67, of Attleboro, MA passed away unexpectedly upon arrival to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA on July 1, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Richard A. Schlak, D.M. to whom she was married on July 15, 1978 and who entered eternal rest on June 19, 2020.
Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on June 5, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Paul Alfred Bernard and the late Jane Helen (Buckley) Bernard. She was raised and educated in her native community of Holyoke and raised her family in the City of Attleboro where she has resided for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Schlak was employed as a billing clerk for Steward Medical Group in Norwood, MA for the past 15 years.
She attended St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church in Pawtucket, RI when her husband served as the pastor from 1992-2004 and the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Foxborough, MA since 2004 where he subsequently served as pastor until his retirement in 2019. The family continued to worship at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
Her favorite pastimes included reading and flowering but mostly treasured the times spent with her husband and children creating lifelong memories to cherish.
Among her family members left to mourn her loss include her two sons: Richard Preston Schlak and Austin Taylor Schlak both of Attleboro, MA; her siblings: Christopher Bernard and his wife, Barbara; Timothy Bernard and his wife, Linda; Daniel Bernard and his wife, Nancy, all of Holyoke, MA.
Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Atlteboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
All are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 11:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Atlteboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Burial will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marie's name may be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 212 Main Street, Foxborough, MA 02035.
