Maria Dos Ramos (Alves) Sousa, 88, of South Attleboro, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her home with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joao Sousa.Born in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal, on April 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Alves and Maria A. (Deluz) Alves.Maria worked for more than twenty-two years as an Assembler for Texas Instruments in Attleboro before retiring in 1991. A resident of South Attleboro since 1992, Maria previously resided in both Pawtucket and Attleboro. She was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, now St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro.Maria cherished the time spent with her beloved family, and enjoyed music, singing, dancing, walking, and assisting at church, particularly with feasts. She was skilled at sewing and embroidery, and Maria's talents helped to make her church's Holy Spirit Flag.She is survived by her four beloved children: Maria T. (Sousa) Viveiros and her husband, Jose Maria Viveiros, of South Attleboro, MA; Joao Alves Sousa and his wife, Darlene Sousa and her children, Steve and Candace, of Johnston, RI; Antonio Alves DeSousa and his wife, Tammy DeSousa, of Canal Winchester, OH; and Carlos M. Alves DeSousa and his wife, Cindy DeSousa, of North Smithfield, RI. She leaves seven cherished grandchildren: Dolores Davidson; Tim Sousa; Melisa Sousa; Lesley Viveiros; Dustin DeSousa; Delia DeSousa; and Connor DeSousa; five treasured great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Maria was the sister of the late Manuel Alves and Maria Teresa (Alves) Ferreira, who passed away one day earlier in the Azores.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Children's room is available during visitation.Those in need of transportation to visitation may simply call (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for this complimentary service.Family and friends are welcome to attend the Funeral from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro.Burial will follow in Mt.
