Maria DeLourdes (DeSousa) Vasconcelos Dupont, 75, of Pleasant Street, Attleboro; formerly of Hodges Street, Attleboro, died on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Golden Living Center - Garden Place, Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Dupont, Sr. who died in September 1999 and the late Manuel Vasconcelos who died in 1982. Born in St. Miguel, Portugal on April 20, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Pavao) DeSousa. She was raised and educated in her native country and resided in St. Miguel until immigrating to the United States and settling in Attleboro many years ago. Mrs. Dupont was a former communicant of the former Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church and in recent years was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro. She was employed as an assembler in the jewelry industry for many years for various companies prior to her retirement. While living in Portugal with her late husband, Manuel, Mrs. Dupont and he were the caretakers for a local family and were responsible for maintaining the home and preparing gourmet meals for the family. In recent years she continued to enjoy creating gourmet meals and her routine of a daily walk brought her much enjoyment. She leaves her stepchildren: Joseph A. Dupont, Jr. of Carver; Janet Curtis of Fairhaven; Paul W. Dupont of Fairhaven; David A. Dupont of New Bedford and Peter J. Dupont of North Attleboro; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several extended family members locally and in Portugal. She was predeceased by her siblings and her late husband, Joseph's son, Leo Dupont. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. The funeral cortege will line up immediately at the conclusion of visitation at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 1, 2013 from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Dupont's name may be made to Community VNA Hospice Care, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
