Maria Jose (Melim) Horsfield-Blair, 77, of Attleboro, MA, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Donald P. Blair.Born on February 7, 1939 in Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Souza) Melim.Maria came to the United States when she was fourteen, and later raised her family in Lincoln, RI. A proud, caring, and loving woman, she enjoyed life as a Homemaker for her cherished family, and as a Hair Stylist in Central Falls, RI, for thirty years. Maria loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. When younger, she enjoyed wine-making with her father, fishing, and visits to the beaches in South County, RI.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her dear children: Michael Horsfield and his wife Margaret of South Kingstown, RI; and Karen (Horsfield) Garcia and her husband Mario of Taunton, MA. She was the step-mother of Matthew and Jessica Blair; the treasured grandmother of Bradford, David, Andrew, and Jennifer Horsfield, all of South Kingstown; and the step-grandmother of Hunter, Austin, Natasha, and Mason Nimrou; and Maya Blair.Maria was the sister of Peter Melim of Warwick, RI.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Children's room is available during visitation and the funeral service.Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service immediately following visitation at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Burial services will be private.Maria's family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Life Care Center of Attleboro, 969 Park Street, Attleboro, MA, 02703.
