Maria (Zapata) Flores, 61, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at her home surrounded by her cherished family. She was the beloved wife of Raul C. Flores Sr., to whom she was married on October 9, 1976.
Born in Honduras on May 25, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Andres Zapata and the late Leonor (Martinez) Zapata.
Maria resided in North Attleboro for the past three years, having most recently lived in Brooklyn, NY, having emigrated to the United States from Honduras when she was just eighteen years old.
The center of Maria's life was her beloved family, for whom she would truly do anything. She treasured her role as a homemaker and mother to her five sons. Hers was a home filled with love and dedication to meaningful values, and the impact she had on her family and the constant encouragement she gave to each of her sons, was captured in a recent article published in Sports Illustrated magazine. Maria was a wonderful cook who delighted in preparing Thanksgiving dinners for her family and frequent guests who were always invited to share in her family tradition. She enjoyed traveling home to Honduras, and spending time at the Hockomock Area YMCA.
In addition to her husband, Raul, she leaves her loving children: Raul Flores Jr. and his fiancé, Cara Carley, of Brooklyn, NY; Brian F. Flores and his wife, Jennifer M. (Duncan) Flores, of North Attleboro, MA; Daniel A. Flores of Manhattan, NY; Luis D. Flores of Quincy, MA; and Christopher Flores of North Attleboro, MA. She was the dear sister of Sergia Thomas, Yolani Mcfield, Pablo Zapata, Mirna Miranda, Alex Zapata and Nestor Zapata. Maria was the proud and adoring grandmother of Miles F. Flores, Maxwell L. Flores, Liliana M. Flores, and Gabriel C. Flores. She leaves several nieces and nephews, many dear friends, and her cherished extended family.
Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Maria by gathering for a Visitation on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 12:00 Noon - 4:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA., immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Maria to the Hockomock Area YMCA Integration Initiative Program, 300 Elmwood Street, North Attleboro MA, 02760.

Flores, Liliana M. Flores y Gabriel C. Flores. Ella deja a varios sobrinos, muchos queridos amigos, y su familia extensa apreciada.
