Maria C. Camara, 87, of Jefferson Street, North Attleboro, a native of Madeira, Portugal; died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late John Camara. Born in Madeira, Portugal on January 15, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Jose and Rose Santos. Raised and educated in Portugal, Mrs. Camara worked on the family farm in Portugal and later on the family farm in Venezuela with her late husband and young family. Mrs. Camara resided in North Attleboro since 1975. She will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family and her strong work ethic. She leaves three children: Maria Gortte Camara, with whom she made her home, of North Attleboro; Maria M. Camara of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and John M. Camara of Attleboro; three cherished grandchildren and several extended family members around the world. Mrs. Camara was one of fifteen children and is survived by three siblings: Luisa Gonzales of Attleboro; Theresa Rodrigues in Venezuela and Marguerita Santos in Portugal. Visitation will be private in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. The private funeral will be held from the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Park Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Towne Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Please do not send flowers.
