Margaret Kearney

Margaret (Lyons) Kearney, 81, of Stamford, Connecticut; formerly of Hodges Street, Attleboro, died on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Smith House Health Care Center in Stamford, Connecticut where she had been a resident for the past 15 months. She was the wife of the late John Joseph Kearney to whom she was married to for more than 40 years prior to his death on February 1, 2010. Born in County Galway, Ireland on Christmas Day, December 25, 1929, Mrs. Kearney was a daughter of the late John and Celia (Murray) Lyons. She was raised and educated in Ireland and later moved to England where she was married. She resided in West London, England before immigrating to the United States and lived in Walpole and Weymouth prior to settling in the City of Attleboro where she resided for twenty years prior to moving to Connecticut to be closer to her devoted and caring family. Mrs. Kearney was a dedicated homemaker and had also been a longtime employee of the former Ridgewood Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, now Golden Living Center Bristol, on George Street in Attleboro as a cook. She enjoyed listening to traditional Irish music as she was proud of her Irish heritage and she was a longtime communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Attleboro. Mrs. Kearney leaves two brothers: Bryan Lyons of Darien, Connecticut and James J. Lyons of Darien, Connecticut; several nieces and nephews, extended family members and members of her husbands family. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 5:00 7:00 PM in the Commonwealth Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, Linden Street, Attleboro with the Rev. John M. Murray, Pastor, officiating. There will be no funeral cortege from the funeral home prior to the commencement of the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Mt. Benedicts Cemetery, Boston.
