Margaret "Peggy" A. Calverley (Burchard) 87, formerly of Pawtucket, RI, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles E. Calverley, celebrating 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.
Born in East Providence, RI., on September 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Costigan) Burchard.
Peggy was employed at Interpak in Pawtucket, RI for many years before her retirement in 2001.
An avid bowler, she participated in leagues at both East Providence Lanes and North Bowl. Despite her husband's love of the Red Sox, Peggy was a Yankees fan; they took great joy in some good ol'natured ribbing when the 2 teams played each other. Peggy and Charlie enjoyed many breakfasts (and hotdogs) with friends at The Right Spot Diner (Greasy Spoon) for many years, just a stone's throw from their home on Young St. Her greatest joy was making people laugh. From wreaking havoc at her sister's house with her many nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Crazy Aunt Peg" to cherished memories made with her grandchildren, telling dirty jokes and putting her own spin on Christmas Carols.
She is survived by her loving children, Linda LeTellier and her husband Omer of Mansfield, MA., Kevin Calverley and his wife LouAnn of Attleboro, MA., and Stephen Calverley and his wife Tracy of Tiverton, RI. She is also survived by a devoted sister, Marie J. Hicks of Seekonk, MA., 10 cherished grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph, John "Jackie", and Robert Burchard.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Life Care Center of Raynham for the love and wonderful care they showed Peggy the last few years.
All services will be private.
