Maniben Jivanlal Patel, 95, of Plainville, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Jivanlal Kanjibhai Patel.
Born on April 10, 1926 in Gujarat, India, she was the daughter of the late Vallabhbhai Patel and the late Nabuben Patel.
Raised and educated in India, she ran a very successful dry-cleaning business in Mumbai and was a highly respected and accomplished businesswoman. She moved to the United States in 2017 to live with her children.
A strong, kind, generous, compassionate woman, she was deeply devoted to her large circle of friends and family. She took great pride in hosting friends and family at her residence in Mumbai. In addition to maintaining a loving home which was "Open To All", she also provided assistance to many family, friends, and others, during their time of need. She enjoyed cooking, socializing, and especially following Indian politics. Maniben truly treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the loving mother of Kiran Amin and her husband, Kirit Amin, of Jacksonville, FL; Induben Patel and her husband, Gunvant Patel, of Albany, NY; Janak Patel and his wife, Hasumati Patel, of Plainville, MA; and Ashok Patel and his wife, Urmila Patel, of Hanover, MA. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Maniben was the dear sister of Jamanaben Vasanbhai Patel of Lexington, MA, and was predeceased by three sisters, Manguben Patel, Gullabben Patel and Bhanuben Patel, and one brother, Narotambhai Patel. She leaves several loving nieces and nephews, her extended family both near and far, and many dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a walk-through Visitation and Hindu Ritual Service on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro allowing all in attendance to pay their respects and with adherence to applicable COVID-19 precautions, including the use of face masks and social distancing.
A Traditional Hindu Service and Cremation Service will follow at 12:00 Noon at North Purchase Crematory, 825 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
