Magdalene (Hargrave) Irving, 90, of Attleboro, MA, formerly of Hyde Park, MA fell asleep in Christ on April 27, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Nelson C. Irving to whom she was married for 51 years.
Born in Davidson County, North Carolina on September 23, 1931, she was the fifth of six children born to the late Coley Hargrave and the late Viola (Miller) Hargrave.
Raised in Southmont, North Carolina, Magdalene was a graduate of Dunbar High School, class of 1950 in Lexington, NC. She lived in New York for a short period of time before relocating to Boston. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at the former Parkwell Nursing Home in Hyde Park, MA for 20 plus years.
As a faithful member of Berea Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Magdalene dedicated herself to several of the church's organizations including: serving as Head Deaconess, singing in the Berea Sanctuary Choir, working for the Community Service Team in the clothing and food pantry departments, and socializing with The Golden Jetsetters.
Magdalene adored time spent with family and friends and was known for her delicious Sabbath dinners. She was a great cook and her homemade bread and baked desserts were delectable treats at every meal. She had a humble and loving spirit and lived her life by the motto: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". She will be forever loved and greatly missed.
Magdalene was proceeded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Ashe and Betty Jane Sullivan and her brothers, Clyde Hargrave and Curtis Hargrave.
She leaves her last surviving sibling: Delphine Holmes of Lexington, NC.; her children: Tina M. Irving, of Attleboro, MA; Dennis J. Irving of Jacksonville, Florida and Richard T. Hargrave of Framingham, MA; her grandchildren: Diamond, Nishelle, Joshuah, Richally, Rickiyah and Tyrese; her great grandchildren: Micah and Matai; and many nieces, nephews, and loving family members and friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend services for Magdalene at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, on Friday, May 6, 2022: Visitation from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 Noon, followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m.
Burial will take place at Wrentham Centre Cemetery, Wrentham, MA.
