M. Elaine Ewing

M. Elaine Ewing, 95, of Falmouth, MA, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at JML Care Center in Falmouth, MA.She was the daughter of the late Mary V. Nichols of Wickford, RI and the late Thomas A. Gambino of Palermo, Sicily.She attended Boston University School of Music, where she met her husband, George C. Ewing. They were married for fifty years, until his death in 2000.Elaine was the Church Organist and Choir Director at the North Falmouth Congregational Church for over twenty years until her retirement in 2008. Prior to that, she held the same position at both Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole and John Wesley Methodist Church in Falmouth, MA. Elaine taught piano for over thirty years privately at her home.She enjoyed nature, gardening, the arts, reading, opera, and most of all her family.She was predeceased by her sister, Faith Stenning, of Pittsburgh, PA.Elaine is survived by her children: Evan T. Ewing of Medford, MA; Stephen L. Ewing of AZ; Jean M. (Ewing) Staruch and her husband, Thomas Staruch, of Mashpee, MA; and E. Joyce Ewing of East Falmouth, MA.
