Lynda Ann Stowell, 53Former Mortgage Company Employee and Town TreasurerLynda Ann Stowell, 53, of County Street, Taunton, Massachusetts; a native of Mansfield, Massachusetts; died unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2008 shortly after her arrival to the Morton Hospital and Medical Center in Taunton.Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 23, 1955, she was a daughter of Ralph E. Stowell of Norton and Barbara M. (Hasenfus) Cassidy of East Wareham. She was raised in Mansfield and was a 1973 graduate of Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro. Following high school, she attended the former Roger Williams College, now Roger Williams University, in Bristol, Rhode Island and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1977. While living in Mansfield, Ms. Stowell was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church.Ms. Stowell resided in Taunton for the past ten years and was a former resident of Berkley for seven years; Westerly, Rhode Island and had lived in California.She was formerly employed as the appointed Town of Westerly (Rhode Island) Town Treasurer.For more than ten years she was employed as the Supervisor of the Post Closing Department at J. P. Chase Manhattan Mortgage Company in Braintree.Ms. Stowell was a woman of great intelligence and independence and will be remembered for her strong work ethic.She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.In addition to her parents, she leaves her siblings: Pamela J. Leite of Berkley, MA; Peyton R. Stowell of Attleboro, MA; Bonnie E. Whalen of Mansfield, MA; Duncan P. Stowell of Foxboro, MA; Barbara M. Dieterle of North Attleboro, MA and Paula R. Stearns of Norton, MA; 12 nieces and nephews; 6 great nieces and nephews and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 5:00 ? 8:00 PM in the ?Memorial Chapel? of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home ? the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children?s room available during visitation.Those in need of a local ride to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 9:00 AM at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, 330 Pratt Street ? Route 106, Mansfield.
